How has meditation been of benefit to you?

Meditation has really helped me and continues to help me with confidence and being gentle to myself. I’ve also noticed that I’m a lot less overwhelmed in social situations, which has allowed me to remain more present, open, and less controlling.

How has Seattle Shambhala been of benefit to you?

(This question just really fills my heart with love and my eyes with tears) The Seattle Shambhala Center has been a safe and loving container, helping me to maintain a steady and consistent practice over these years. Having been inspired to learn more about the practice, I eventually started taking classes and weekend retreats. When I first started practicing I was between jobs and didn’t have a steady income. I eventually started working again, with weekends being a major part of my work week. The SSC has always understood and has lovingly worked with me, my funds, and my schedule so I was able to continue growing and learning.

What’s your favorite activity, open house night, holiday or other center program? and why?

I really enjoyed the whole Sacred Path, and the Who am I? class. Ooh!, and the Mudra Space Awareness workshop! And Qigong! And I love Sunday morning practice and discussion!! Shambhala Day and Harvest of Peace are really cool too!!!

What was your first experience at Shambhala like?

I remember feeling awkward, shy, and unsure of myself. The sort of sad and cool thing about the experience was that the people at Shambhala and the space appeared to be loving and open; this helped me to see that these were feelings that I was bringing in.
