The Way of Flowers: Mindful Ikebana
with Anjie Cho
Join us as we explore ikebana, the Asian art of flower arrangement, as a contemplative dharma mindfulness practice to invite art in everyday life.
“I don’t think you learn dharma art, you discover it; and you do not teach dharma art, but you set up an environment so it can be discovered” -- Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche

What you will take away from this workshop:
- Learn how to connect with the qi (life force energy) of a flower, and invite it’s wisdom into your home and meditation practice
- Instructional demonstration on how to create an ikebana arrangement, interwoven with contemplative dharma art, Buddhist, and Taoist teachings
- Practical learning and tips on ikebana equipment, where to purchase, and how to use; A greater awareness of nature, your environment and the world of flowers
- Connection with other people that love flowers and contemplative arts.
Participants are invited to create their own flower arrangement in class. Supplies will be provided for use in class (or you can bring your own) and can also be purchased from Anjie to take home. Flowers will be provided to take home.
For all skill levels, no artistic experience required. (Experienced students will have the option of skipping a portion of the demo to begin their arrangements sooner.)
Limited spots. Only 15 spaces available! Please register if you plan to attend so there will be enough flowers and supplies for all. Plan to arrive at 12:30 pm to park, check in and get settled. The program will begin promptly at 1 pm.
